About

The Blue Orchid Tiny House was a dream born from a love of travel and unique experiences.

The very beginning

I have always loved adventure and exploration, and  this passion has taken me to beautiful, wild parts of Australia and around the world. While I have pursued many other interests (including my photography and art), there was always the seed of an idea in the back of my mind to create my own beautiful travel experience for others.

Birth of the Tiny House

It was my good fortune to be able to purchase this beautiful spot in Clare and put a pretty tiny house in the back yard among the gum trees. I completed as much of it myself as I could, learning woodwork skills along the way. The tiny house was little more than a shell when I bought it and I needed to build the kitchen, complete the bathroom and install railings in the loft. Outside, a deck needed to be built as well as some beautiful outdoor furniture. I used as much salvaged and second hand materials as possible, including the beautiful spotted gum deck, and the result is as unique and special as I could have dreamed. I've photographed many birds from the windows and watched the possums play in the trees at night. It was special to see a young joey kangaroo come out of the pouch to graze with its mother right next to the tiny house. I love the location and all the wildlife that visit and I hope you will too.
